The World Of School Uniforms

School uniforms have a great bit of a history and are a normal part of most of the schools around the world. It is said that the notion of an uniform dress code began in the Roman or the Greek empire where much stress and importance was give to the education system. It is however a point often made that uniforms were designed and used only to identify or mark students. Today, the notion has changed completely and most schools identify the usage of school uniforms with the notion of equality and balance. School uniforms typically consist of a shirt and a trouser for the boys. This might often be complemented with a tie and, in case of cold countries, a blazer or a jacket. For the girls, there is a lot of variation, but a typical style involves a shirt or a blouse with a skirt. Some schools, in adherence to strict equality of gender, allow girls to wear shirts and trousers too. The concept of school uniforms has seen a lot of debate, especially in the current decade. Some researches believe that school uniforms have become obsolete and pointless, and they often cite that it has no effect on academic performance whatsoever.
